Our Vision

At Much Woolton Old School Nursery we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

Our focus is to ensure that every child is offered equal opportunities to be able to grow within our setting as individuals. We aim to offer a relaxed, welcoming and enriched environment which supports children's desire to explore and discover as they learn and develop.

Pedagogy

The Curriculum and practice of Much Woolton Old School Nursery is inspired by a range of different approaches:

Play based learning
We provide opportunities for children to actively and imaginatively engage with people, objects and the environment. As children re-create experiences and enact new play possibilities, narrative and oral language skills are developed. It helps children make sense of the world around them through discovery, allowing them to develop cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically.

Language rich environment
Our language rich environment is a nurturing learning space which is purposefully designed to provide the necessary stimulus to develop children's language skills effectively. Our practitioners seize every opportunity to use language, interact and encourage turn taking.

Our Curriculum

Our play based curriculum puts play and activity at the centre of children's learning, recognising that through play children develop basic knowledge and skills.

Our play based curriculum allows children to learn the skills they need in a structured environment with the help and supervision of our experienced practitioners who know how to take interests and experiences and turn them into learning moments.

Our free flow indoor/outdoor approach allows children to make choices and be an advocate to their own learning.

Our practitioners are facilitators to the children's learning. Their role is to observe, support and extend learning, meaningful opportunities and experiences whilst listening to the child and tuning into their needs and interests.
